Born after a personal and professional journey of more than ten years, which led the author to know and appreciate mountain biking and the area in which he lives, this guide intends to raise awareness and enhance the so-called area of the Four Provinces. For centuries a transit area where the ancient Via Postumia of the Romans intersected, the medieval Via Francigena and Via degli Abati, and the more modern Via del Sale, that of the Four Provinces – Alessandria, Pavia, Piacenza and Genoa – is a territory very interesting, which goes from the Apennines to the sea.
The guide presents a careful choice of ring itineraries, of varying length and difficulty, which also include two spectacular crossings: the Via del Sale, which retraces the route on which the Ligurian salt passed towards the Po Valley, and the Ring of Quattro Province, which contains the best of the area where the Ligurian Apennines is born.
